OOVJ - design philosphy
The OOVJ is designed for DJ's who want industrial reliability combined with studio grade sound.
All components are carefully chosen to offer quality and reliability. No corner cutting to save a few pounds, the OOVJ had two years of research and development with many component choices tested and excluded. Only the best parts were included in the final design.
The OOVJ is in use word wide by all types of DJ and venues with one thing in common - they all wanted the reliability and sound quality the OOVJ affords.
Whatever software you want to use - Virtual DJ, Traktor, Mixmeister, PCDJ, BPM, Fruityloops, Ableton etc - the OOVJ will handle them all with ease.
The OOVJ has an automatic, internal power supply. Use it any where in the world right away - just plug ang go - no adapters or voltage converters needed. It's classed as hand luggage for airline travel and we've proved it by taking the machine to europe and the USA many times.

Most common failure on DJ laptops - dead keyboard from liquid spill.
That's why the OOVJ has a waterproof keyboard.
The letters are illuminated softly in red - just enough to see them clearly in a darkended DJ booth.

We use the M-Audio Delta 1010 LT.
It's a PCI card - not USB - for greater reliability.

Why do we use phono outputs instead of balanced XLR? Well for space and compatibility reasons. Ten XLR sockets just wouldn't fit on the cae plus all our customers so far are connecting the audio outputs to a studio or DJ mixer which requires phono inputs, not XLR.
It's a PCI card - not USB - for greater reliability.

High brightness 17" industrial touch screen
Once you start using the touch screen you'll wish every PC had one.
Very easy to use and totally reliable, thanks to the quality of touch panel used. We have though about accidents so just in case the touch screen gets damaged, you can still use the system with a normal USB mouse. In fact there's a mouse controller built into the keyboard, just in case.
The touch panel glass is toughened and we've never seen one broken in the field.

Standard def and high def video outputs built in
We don't know what type of screen, TV or projector you might want to connect to. So we cover all the bases ;
SVHS and Composite - commonly used on older TV's

Emergency restore system built in
Accidents can happen. We know.
When the system is built a backup of the hard drive is taken and stored on a hidden compact flash memory card. Should the system need to be restored for any reason, this system will restore the OOVJ to shipped condition in about twenty minutes.
Dont' worry, the restore system can't be activated by accident.

Heavily optimised operating system
Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.
Heavily optimised for DJ and VJ operation, this is far removed from the plain jane Windows 7 you'll find on a consumer laptop. It's not any different to use as all the changes are done to the internal operation of Win 7, plus a few minor graphical tweaks. But it makes a huge different to the performance of the machine.
Even when mixing two high definition videos together in Virtual DJ, the OOVJ is only using 1.4Gb of RAM!

Light weight and strength - good combination.
The chassis is all-alluminium with side walls formed from a double wall extrusion as seen here. This offers great strength with no weight penalty.
Plastic is only used for cosmetic purposes and on the corners of the machine. (If they weren't plastic then the wi-fi signal wouldn't get in or out!)
Despite the all-aluminum construction the OOVJ is so solidly built it still weighs 12Kg.

High durability hinges and handles
Like the rest of the machine the bits you don't think about - handles, hinges and so on - are designed to cope with the weight and harsh handling the OOVJ might face.
Hinges, handle and latches are industrial components.
For example the screen hinges are rated at 280Kn each. Quite capable of holding the 7Kg weight of the OOVJ screen at any angle.
